Serving Type:
Powder
Description
L-theanine is a naturally occurring amino acid, although it isn’t used as a building block for protein synthesis. Several types of tea, including black, oolong, and green tea contain theanine (generally <50 mg per serving). L-theanine may help reduce stress and anxiety in people experiencing acutely stressful situations. Furthermore, L-theanine may also prevent the increase in blood pressure caused by stressful mental tasks. Some small studies have also found that L-theanine might lower depression and anxiety scores in healthy people and in people with major depressive disorder. Supplementation with L-theanine may also improve some aspects of cognitive function, including attention, executive function and memory. L-theanine may enhance sleep quality by promoting a more relaxed state in the brain.
Weight per scoop:
0.550gm
Dosage Range:
100mg to 400mg per day. To manage anxiety with L-theanine, it is recommended to take two divided doses, such as 100 mg at breakfast and 100 mg at dinner. However, for anticipated anxiety-provoking events, taking L-theanine 30-60 minutes before may be helpful. This can include public speaking, exams, or other stress-inducing events.
Storage:
Keep in cool, dry place. Shake well before use. Seal tightly after each use to preserve freshness and potency.
Cautions:
Keep out of reach of children. Do not use if tamper evident seal is broken or missing. Ensure lid is tightly closed after each use. There is some evidence L-theanine supplements may lower blood pressure. If you take one or more medications to lower blood pressure, you may want to avoid taking L-theanine. Due to its relaxing and sleep-supporting effects, L-theanine may also have an additive effect with some sedative medications. Avoid taking supplements containing D-theanine as it may prevent the absorption of L-theanine in the body.
